Whole Wheat Crackers
Our container arrived last month, and thanks so much to all who helped pack it. I haven’t found anything broken yet!!! On the container was many boxes of Ritz (among other food acquired by couponing.) But we still decided to attempt making our own crackers.
This recipe is from one of my favorite food bloggers Full Tummies – these two sisters have young kids like me, and post very practical recipes. We’ve had it with potato soup – making a delicious meal. A nice alternative to making something like biscuits.
Whole Wheat Crackers
1 1/2 c. whole wheat flour
1 1/2 c. white flour
1/4 c. sugar
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 c. butter, soft
3/4 c. buttermilk
wheat germ/cracked wheat
Mix first 5 ingredients, then cut in butter. Mix in buttermilk, let sit 10 minutes. Grease 2 large cookie sheets and sprinkle with wheat germ/cracked wheat. Divide dough in half and roll out on cookie sheets. Roll as thin as you can with a rolling pin. Sprinkle with salt. Cut into squares with a pizza cutter. Bake at 350 F (174 C) for 20 minutes.
