Longing for Living Water
We have two huge storage tanks in our backyard that get filled by water from the city. Our tanks that feed the kitchen, the guest cottage, and the rest of the house all draw from them. We have not had water come to our house in 5 days, and those storage tanks have been dry the whole time.
The city water usually comes in at night, so every night I go and check for the sound of water coming into our tanks. Every morning the girls and I check to see if there is any water in the tanks. For 5 nights there has been nothing.

As I’ve thought about Christmas, this experience has given me new insight into the longing that the Jews had for the coming of the Messiah. They looked for signs, they studied prophecies, they prayed for his arrival and salvation.
I’ve been thinking about Jesus, how He is the Living Water, the well that never runs dry. He is the only one who truly satisfies, my greatest thirst needs to be for Him and Him alone.
I’ve prayed often for water to come in – God has answered those prayers in a different way (as usual.) Instead of city water, God has made it rain the last few days. And so I’ve been putting our bins we packed most of our stuff in to come here under the drainage pipes, and have collected at least 120 gallons of rain water – water from God. Another sign that God’s answer is so much better than mine.
Thankfully, we have some water in our kitchen and guest storage tanks. So I can use water in the kitchen, and we can take showers in the guest cottage. We’ve been using the rain water to flush the toilets with. We went to some friends’ house to shower the other day.
So please pray with me for water. And even more, pray for all of us that we will long for Jesus, the Living Water, and look for our greatest satisfaction in Him.

Am praying for water for you too, Rinnie–water/water and living water. Both are so essential. I remember when we wouldn’t have water I would think that I’d rather have water than electricity. Then when we wouldn’t have electricity I’d think I rather have that then water. Sheesh, both are wonderful and you sure don’t realize that until one is missing. Loved seeing you all on skype yesterday!!!
Rinnie, I will keep praying for you guys. I was amazed that your house looks like one from the states! Since I hadn’t been able to talk to you before you left, I assumed that you were going to be living in a hut
I hope all is well with you all and pray that you are all adjusting…I’m sure the transition will take a while. Merry belated Christmas! I will keep posting on my blog…soon, you’ll get to meet the newest “Young”…29 weeks today! I’ll try to keep up on email as well. Love, Grace
I will pray, friend. And thanks for the picture of the house. Wondering where you lived
I am surprised, too.
